You've spent your life empowering others. So have I.

Vernon Ambris

Founder, Aligned Coaching Pathways

Qualified Lecturer · Registered Manager · Former BBL Professional Athlete

I bring decades of experience in education and health and social care to my life-coaching practice. As a qualified lecturer and registered manager, I've worked across further education, schools, and care settings, helping learners and teams build practical skills, emotional resilience, and sustainable routines.

My approach is rooted in the core values of trust, respect, loyalty, and true alignment principles I apply in every coaching relationship to create safe, accountable, and growth-focused partnerships.

I also draw on lessons learned from elite sport. I earned 4 years basketball scholarships in the USA and played professionally in the British Basketball League for the Birmingham Bullets (1985–1987). That experience taught me discipline, teamwork, and the mindset needed to perform under pressure.

My work is grounded in belief, clarity, and legacy. I help educators honour who they have been and step boldly into who they are becoming.

Teachers who stepped into their next chapter.

These are real voices from educators who chose to trust the process, invest in themselves, and step boldly into what came next.

Ahead of the session, I had a vague idea of what I wanted to discuss. I was looking for a renewed sense of confidence and motivation to pursue a career goal of mine. Vernon was great at leading the conversation and asking questions that helped me to clarify my thoughts.

Ellen A, Project Manager, Manchester

From the first session to the last, the process has been one of self reflection and review. Vernon has been a wonderful sounding board pushing me forward with projects I might have otherwise procrastinated on. Tactful, appropriate, and hugely helpful.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main benefits of working with a life coach as a teaching professional?

Teachers consistently experience three core benefits: Clarity - understanding your goals, strengths, and values. Confidence - building the mindset and self-belief to progress. Accountability - structured check-ins that keep you focused, even during busy school terms. Many teachers describe coaching as the first time they've had protected space to think about their own journey.

How long is each coaching session?

Each session lasts 1 hour giving us time to explore your goals, reflect on challenges, and create practical, achievable actions without adding to your workload.

How much does coaching cost?

Coaching is flexible and designed to fit around school life. Options include one-off sessions for targeted support (e.g. interview prep, confidence building) and multi-session packages (typically 4-6 sessions) held every two weeks for deeper reflection and sustained progress. Pricing varies by package.

What can I hope to achieve after my coaching sessions?

Teaching professionals commonly finish coaching with: a clearer sense of career direction (SLT, specialist role, or new sector), increased confidence in their strengths and professional identity, practical strategies for workload and wellbeing, a personalised action plan, and greater clarity around values and long-term aspirations.

How do I know if coaching is right for me?

Coaching is a good fit if you're an ECT wanting confidence and clarity, a mid-career teacher feeling stuck or undervalued, an experienced teacher preparing for leadership, or someone considering a career change. If you're unsure, a single Discovery Session can help you decide.

What happens in a typical coaching session?

A session usually includes: a check-in on how you're feeling, space to explore a challenge or goal, thought-provoking questions for clarity, tools tailored to school life, and clear actions to take forward. Teachers often leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more in control of their next steps.
